Between 2021 and 2022 alone, 431 of these arts nonprofits served a total of 72.7 million Angelenos via virtual and in-person programming. Still, the OGP Budget has remained generally static since 2007 while the total number of OGP grantees has increased by nearly 57 percent!\n\nAs part of the Countywide Cultural Policy Strategic Plan, the Los Angeles County Department of Arts and Culture proposed an increase of OGP funding from $4.5 to $9 million annually. The LA County Board of Supervisors has generously prioritized and voted in support of this increase for three years in a row, but the funds have yet to be allocated.\n\nArts organizations are hurting, losing streams of funding on a regular basis, which typically results in staff layoffs and/or closures. And we know when the arts ecosystem hurts, our economy hurts. If funded, this proposal would address heightened pressure on the OGP, support operations, help stabilize small and mid-size organizations that keep Los Angeles County vibrant and diverse, and increase opportunities for historically under-funded, under-resourced, and underrepresented communities.\n\nIt is imperative that this be reflected in the County budget for the next fiscal year.
